Announcement 1.0

Dear AYF Participants!

Passport- Some of you do not have your passports yet, please apply as soon as possible and let me know and Prof. Peter your passport number once you have it.

Visa- Please update us regarding the status of your visa application. If you need anything from us to expedite your application, please let us know.

Contact with other delegates- I assume you have contacted your co-participants from your country and from other Asian countries.

Cultural Performance and Country Presentation- Please make sure you are already planning as a team.

Pictures-please take a look at our website www.ayf7philippines.weebly.com and pay attention to delegates part 1 and Part 2 sections. Try to look for your pictures. If you see that you don’t have your picture yet, please submit it to us (antpsych(at)yahoo.com and hsirintip(at)hotmail.com) SOON. If you think that your picture is pixilated and in bad quality, you may send us another picture. These pictures will also be used in our handbook. So be sure you look in your best dress and you look good in your picture. Do not blame us if you are not going to send a better quality picture.

Website-I have updated our website so please take a look at it as often as possible. Announcements will also be posted in our website under section announcements. For non-Filipino delegates, you can participate in a weekly trivia quiz that I made in our website. You may answer the question and the delegate who can send the right answer first wins a small token courtesy of AYF.

Accommodations- We will all be billeted in either Ateneo University Dorm or ISO Dorm. Both located inside the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Philippines. For more details of these accommodations, visit our website under accommodations section.

Arrivals- You will disembark at Ninoy Aquino International Airport 1 if you are using airlines other than Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air. If you are going to arrive in Ninoy Aquino International Airport 1, be sure to exit in your designated area. There are two exits in the airport and you will exit according to your family name. This will help us identify you easily. For Ninoy Aquino International Airport 2 and 3 arrivals, just follow the way to the exit. There are no special arrangements for the exits.

Money Matters- Please bring either US Dollars or Japanese Yen. Before you exit the airport, be sure to exchange some amount for your transportation fares. Please take note that AYF is not paying for your transportation from and to the airport. You may not exchange all your money as we can do it outside the airport such as in the banks, department stores, and trusted money exchange shops.

Airport Payments- When you arrive at the airport. PLEASE DO NOT PAY ANYTHING. You are not expected to pay anything at this point. However, when you depart back to your respective countries, you are expected to pay the terminal fee which is 750 pesos. If you have excess baggage, then you have to pay.

Security- Please be mindful of your personal belongings especially your money, passport and other important items. It will be helpful if you are going to bring belt bags or something that you can use making sure that your items are in front of you and not behind you (e.g. backpack).

Medicine
- Please make sure to bring first-aid medicines (e.g. medicine for upset stomach, allergies, fever, cough, headache, and travel related sickness). If you are taking medicines, please make sure you have them before you go to the Philippines.

Travel Insurance- If you think you will need this, you can apply for it on your own. Some travel insurance can really be cheap.

Contact Numbers-We will give you some contact numbers later which you can give to your parents just in case they want to get in touch with you.

Telephone- if you are using a prepaid mobile phone (using SIM), you may be able to use it in the Philippines. You just have to buy your own Philippine SIM (preferably GLOBE or SMART SIM).

Electric Voltage-Philippines is using 220V. Although laptops and other gadgets can be used anywhere, please consider that some of your electronic gadgets may not be compatible in the Philippines (e.g. Japan is using 110v).

Language- Please make sure to know some basic Tagalog. This will be helpful at least in making friends. People can speaking English though.

Clothes and other personal stuffs to bring- For the opening ceremony of PAC, we are expected to wear our national costumes and so it is expected that you should bring one. Since there is no fall/winter in the Philippines, please bring your summer clothes, clothes that are not thick and long. Bring comfortable clothes. Be sure to bring towels, umbrella, slipper, shoes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, toilet papers, and other personal items. Although, you may want to buy them in the Philippines.
